Fall has arrived, and that means it’s time to get into the fall spirit and take advantage of this beautiful fleeting season!

We don’t know about you, but our favourite way to spend the season is by getting outdoors and visiting a family-run farm.

That’s why we recommend heading to the nearby Cannamore Orchard, situated just 35 minutes south of Ottawa.

Cannamore Orchard is a family-run operation that’s been in business since 1982. It all began when a family of five planted 500 apple trees, and now, it’s grown to be one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area.

From apple picking to a pumpkin patch to a scary Halloween event, there are tons of fall activities to partake in at Cannamore Orchard.

Cannamore Orchard’s apple picking season has already begun. Their pick-your-own apples experience is open daily between 10:00 and 5:00 pm.

The farm’s annual Family Activity Weekends have already started too. They are great for kids, with tons of activities set up on-site, including hedge mazes, wagon rides, cow train rides, pedal cars, a kid’s play area, and a petting zoo with chickens.

If pumpkins are more your thing, you won’t have to wait long. Cannamore Orchard’s pick-your-own pumpkin patch should be open to the public by mid-September and remains open throughout all of October.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer not to pick your own apples or pumpkins, Cannamore also has pre-picked fruit and veggies for sale in their on-site store.

Finally, even if you visit Cannamore Orchard for apple picking this month, we strongly suggest returning in October for the scare of a lifetime.

Starting on September 24th and running all the way until Halloween, Cannamore Orchard hosts their annual Acres of Terror event. Prepare to be terrified, as Acres of Terror is consistently hailed as the scariest Halloween event in the region.

This year’s Acres of Terror event will be made up of four elements: the spooky wagon ride, the house of terror, the spooky village, and the fog maze. Tickets for both daytime and nighttime are available, with the latter being the most frightening option.

As with all years, Acres of Terror promises to feature tons of spooky Halloween decor, special lighting and sound effects, and even live actors. In essence, it’s not for the faint of heart. Tickets are on sale now on Cannamore Orchard’s website.

If you’re going to be in Ottawa this fall, then be sure to spend an afternoon at Cannamore Orchard. And if you need a place to stay during your visit, you’re always welcome at the Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre.
