What To Do in Ottawa this Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, and with so many events taking place in Ottawa, it can be hard to decide how to spend it. Thankfully, we’ve done our research and narrowed down the top three Halloween events happening in the city. From a spooky cemetery tour for history buffs to the 5th annual Day of the Dead Festival at Byward Market, check out three can’t-miss Halloween events in Ottawa. 

Deadwood Haunted Drive

Deadwood Haunted Drive is Ottawa’s only haunted drive, and it’s guaranteed to scare! Attendees will make their way through six bone-chilling horror sets telling the story of the Deadwood Massacre. Deadwood Haunted Drive will feature live actors, special effects, and coordinated lighting. Though you’ll remain in your vehicle throughout, you can bet that it’s going to get uncomfortable. This contactless experience is COVID-friendly and takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. Prices start at $56.94 per car.   

Day of the Dead Festival

The Byward Market is back with the fifth edition of the Day of the Dead Festival. This festive event will feature outdoor exhibitions, Mariachi performances, authentic Mexican cuisine, folkloric dancers, Catrina contests, and much more. There will even be a tequila tasting. Byward Market’s Day of the Dead Festival is free to attend and is running from October 29th until November 1st.

Historic Cemetery Tours

Calling all history buffs! If you’re interested in learning more about the history of Ottawa while enjoying a bit of Halloween fun, look no further than Historic Cemetery Tours. Tours are 60 minutes in length and will have you exploring the Settler’s Cemetery and the Billings Estate grounds at dusk. You’ll hear tales of death, burial, and disease from a knowledgeable guide. Prices start at $15.25 and tours run on Fridays and Saturdays from October 15th until November 13th.
